Summer has truly arrived with crazy hot temperatures, but also an increase in anti-immigrant activity from ICE and the rest of the administration. Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones during the recurring heat waves. NEWS

ICE has ramped up its activity with a massive surge of arrests coinciding with the increase in the number of employees and vehicles here in Colorado. Nationwide, abductions are averaging 1,400+ a day and still going up. This, combined with new court procedures designed to prevent asylum applicants from making their court dates, is putting more pressure than ever on our communities.

As the new surge of abductions isn’t following the patterns from L.A., Chicago, and Minneapolis, we are going to have to work both harder and smarter to find where the abductions are happening in our neighborhoods so that we can respond in time. Please work with your regional groups and neighborhood contacts to determine where ICE is striking and develop response plans ASAP. Also, consider working with local immigrant contacts to spread the news about the new court procedures so that fewer people fall into the trap of not showing up for court and having a default removal order issued for them.

Volunteers Needed!

With the surge or activities and the shenanigans at the immigration court there is an urgent need for volunteers to cover shifts at both ICE Watch and Court Watch. To learn more you can fill out the interest form for Court Watch or send an email into ICE Watch as linked/listed below and someone will reach out to you to discuss.

There is a particular need for Court Watch volunteers in the afternoons but all shifts usually have some open slots and when the larger Master hearings are called (25-95 respondents) we need lots of help handing out flyers during the rush.

ACLU July People Power Action Call: ICE Abuse Teach-in

July 30 at 6:00 PM

A new ACLU report documenting immigration enforcement actions from eight states reveals how immigration agents turned American communities into danger zones – targeting kids and schools, beating and tear-gassing people, and racially profiling our neighbors and co-workers.

On this call, we’ll break down the report’s key findings, how we can build power to stop the deportation machine, and discuss solutions like the American Dream and Promise Act.

Interfaith Vigil for Peace and Justice:
Silent Meditation and Prayer

Gather with the Interfaith Immigration Network for an interfaith session of silent meditation/prayer in front of the ICE headquarters at 12445 E. Caley St. in Centennial. These twice-a-month gatherings bear silent and loving witness to and for all persons who are brutalized by the ICE reign of violence.  We start with a brief reflection, then do some sitting meditation and walking meditation together, and close with shared reflections.  Please bring a chair, water, hat, and sunscreen.  We’d love to have you join us.

GEO Detention Center Weekly Vigil/Protest

Every Wednesday night: 6 – 7:30 pm

Organized by American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), at the GEO/ICE detention center in Aurora, 3130 Oakland St. A different group/organization leads every week.

Training for Court Accompaniment

August 25 at 5:30 PM

Register to attend our virtual free training on how to accompany immigrants to check-ins with immigration, traffic and criminal court, and immigration court in the Denver Metro Area (Brighton to Castle Rock, Golden to Aurora).

Many immigrants feel anxious going to court or check-ins with Immigration – and going alone can mean missing important information and feeling isolated. With this training, you can immediately join our court accompaniment team and accompany immigrants to ICE check-ins, court at the detention center, criminal or traffic court, or federal immigration court. Spanish language ability is helpful, but not necessary.

Business Know Your Rights Canvassing Update/Training.

ICE detentions are climbing nationwide, and Denver is no exception. Signs of Solidarity is responding with new tools to meet the moment, and we need you there. Join Indivisible Denver Action this Tuesday, August 4th (5:30-6:30 PM) for a special all-canvasser update covering our new scouting tools, an easier way to recruit canvass partners, and a new flyer to encourage voting in the elections as a way to fight bad immigration policy. ICE Watch Update

Hello everyone! Here is this month’s Centennial ICE Watch official statement. We really need more volunteers, especially as we are trying to expand our efforts.

We continue to observe increased ICE activity at the field office, including on weekends. It also appears that they are shifting where raids leave from to another location. We are organizing efforts to find out where this may be happening and suspect there is one or more locations that the public is currently unaware of. There are still agents with high visibility vests and hard hats on the dash of their cars. We do not know if agents are going undercover, but, notably, we are seeing them.

Our volunteers continue to observe new ICE vehicles at the Centennial field office, though at a lower rate than we previously were seeing. We are not sure where the new fleet cars are being taken, but most of them do not typically remain at the field office after being inspected and getting license plates.

The most common cars that we see going on raids from the Centennial field office are:

• Dark Chevy Tahoe
• Dark Ford SUVs
• Subarus
• Black and silver Dodge Chargers
• Dark Jeep SUVs
• Dark Dodge SUVs
• White Dodge SUVs
• Nissan SUVs
• White Ford SUVs

This is not an extensive list of all of the cars they use! ICE has one BearCat SWAT vehicle that says HOMELAND SECURITY on the back in dark lettering. Local SWAT have their jurisdiction written clearly on the sides.

While outside the field office, we do our best to speak with and help people coming in with appointments and/or questions. This can make a big difference for people and is one of our priorities!

We really need more volunteers, especially people who can be there on weekdays, so that we can continue our important work! We are hoping to expand to the Frederick field office as well, so please reach out if you would be interested in volunteering there or at the Centennial field office. You can email [email protected] if you are interested in volunteering for more information and vetting.

Keep in mind that this is a high-visibility action, and ICE often takes our photos and license plates if we park nearby. We do not recommend doing ICE Watch if you are involved in direct mutual aid or have at-risk loved ones. We have a lawyer on call, and he has assured us that we are on extremely solid legal footing should anything happen. We have been present since September 2025 with no legal issues.

Centennial ICE Watch started as a direct action but has evolved over time to be sustainable and achieve our goals of helping immigrants with appointments and collecting information. Our priority is keeping our volunteers and the people we are there to support safe, and we intend to be non-threatening and not get arrested. We support others organizing direct actions outside the Centennial field office, but that is not the purpose of Centennial ICE Watch and would hamper our ability to help as well as the safety of our volunteers. Please keep all of that in mind if you are thinking about volunteering!
